Take the perspective of a child

There is a lot around us which is very interesting. Often children see more and other things than adults, I think they aren’t hindered by knowledge and prejudice. Probably also because of their height, kids see things differently. In short, they see in a different way because of their pureness and the angle from which they are looking. The good thing is that even as an adult you can see things differently. It starts with your willingness to adapt to another level of observation. And not to forget, take time for it. You could for example take a chair or sit on your butt, even better, in a natural place surrounded by trees and plants. Make it as natural as it can be. The only thing you are gonna do is take in your surroundings and engage all your senses. Feel the air, the soil, the wind. Smell the odors and see the beauty of nature. Watch slowly, put energy in watching the leaf in the wind. Some of you will have a feeling of rejection while reading this. If so, your time has come to try:).

Wonder and admire

It took me some years to discover and learn about the herbs surrounding us. When we lived in the Netherlands I started trying to make infusions from the herbs in the garden. But because of the weather, the quality often didn’t live up to my expectations. But at least I tried. People around me warned me about the risks of using ‘weed’ out of my garden, they said I should buy it in the shop, preferably safely packaged. Since I am the rebellious type I kept on doing my own thing like reading and learning about the ‘old’ herbs. Since we live in Spain, things are much easier, a lot of people here recognise the precious value of herbs. Especially people above their eighties know a lot about forgotten things like what nature is offering us. I talk with people and listen and they on the other hand listen and talk with me. There is an exchange of knowledge. Permaculture is what we are doing in fact, shortly explained it means that we have our natural ecosystem. In many ways it is a never ending circle of life. For example, plants grow, get pruned or sometimes die. Pruning waste will be burnt and the ashes are used as fertilizer for the other plants and trees. In the next foto you see the ‘quemador’,the burner, we use. Apart from that we use a lot of the pruned wood to burn in our house stove in the cold months to warm ourselves.

It will take years for me to study all the wonders on the finca. Like the herbs. We are really living amidst a natural pharmacy. And we don’t use our herbs only to cure. They are especially meant to maintain and build on our natural immunity. Our bodies gently absorb all this goodness from our own terrain.

Our finca is like a movie set. This was already my opinion when admiring the plants, the trees ánd the herbs. You must know that a lot of movies have been made in Spain. The surroundings are awesome in this country, the diversity of landscapes and the roughness are impressive. Some weeks ago a movie director from Tokyo visited us and was interested to talk about the opportunity of using our finca for a film set.

But, without making movies you can use your own imagination and creativity to see things you haven’t seen before. Simply wonder and admire and use your phantasy. Believe me, you can see things that will surprise you. And not only your visions, but all your senses will be touched here.

Bienvenido, welcome, willkommen, bienvenu

I would like to invite you to our finca. Stay in one of our holiday homes at the finca and experience all the things I described in this and the previous blogs. The time has come to experience real life. Taste the goodness, enjoy our hospitality and wonder and admire the finca and its surroundings. You could have your wedding here, like others will. Or just see how impressive our future film set will be. It is all up to you, pick and choose. Welcome to Finca Libertad. Send me a message by whatsapp and let’s meet!
