Where is Finca Libertad located?
Our finca is situated in the valleys from the mountain Ponoig in the village of Polop in the province of Alicante. In one direction you have magnificent views on the mountains of the Sierra de Bernia and in the other direction on Leon Dormido (sleeping lion) mountain.
You also have sea view from one of our terraces. So the landscape is quite varied and gives you the feeling to be surrounded by the best nature is offering you. Need directions?
How did Finca Libertad get started?
Because we like freedom, our finca is named Finca Libertad. We strive to live in a free and self sufficient way. This is also reflected in our last technical project, creating our own solar power system. With more than 300 sunny days a year we can generate our own energy. Uniquely, we also have our own ‘balsa’, a large water reservoir that helps us capture the little rain we get as well as using water from the mountains to irrigate the finca. All of this is located on 20.000m2 of land.
What products does Finca Libertad make?
Our finca offers a great variety of ecological products including grapes, olives and fruits. From these products we make wine, ollive oil, marmelades, juices and limoncello. All 100% organic and pure. Our great variety of fruit trees include oranges, lemons, kumquats, mandarins, olives, medlars, avocados, plums, apricots, figs, cherimoya. In addition there are some walnuts, quinces, khakis, kiwis and pomegranates.
With passion and pride, Mónica and her husband Alberto take daily care of the finca.
Nature matters
Our ecological finca has a broad variety of fruit trees. A specialty is our vineyard. The past 9 years the soil has only been worked in a ecological way. This means that we respect nature and its biodiversity and it can never be foreseen how much we will be able to actually harvest. For example, in 2022 and 2025 we had an excellent year for grapes and we have been able to make abundant tasteful white and red wines. On the other hand, in 2024 the olive crop was very small and not worth picking. We accept these fluctuations and welcome what nature offers us.
Our wish to work our land in an ecological way comes from the desire to live a natural and healthy life and eat what nature will give to us. We are happy to have a strong connection with our environment, including the lovely people surrounding us. We all know our well being depends on eating honest food and being surrounded by good and honest people.
