Wilma and I know each other from the Netherlands, she lives there with her husband Glen, married since 1987 and in love with him since 1983. A great couple, last Summer they came here to visit us on the finca. Their love is radiant and noticeable. As it is for my husband Alberto and I, high school sweethearts since 1984 and married since 1991.
Love is a path of roses I think, with velvet and thorns, like life is. The more you have to overcome pitfalls and challenges, the more profound your love relationship will get. With strong commitment and honesty you can have a beautiful relationship with your partner. Infinity and with that eternity will in the end be possible, depending on a strong will and perseverance. But nevertheless, it doesn’t need to be that big. I always explained to our four children that everything is possible and as long as honesty and commitment is there even shorter relationships are fine. In my opinion, it’s better not to wish and choose to have children in that case, but hey, who am I?
My strong, funny, caring, handsome and committed Alberto and I keep on sowing in our relationship. Now and then this is quite challenging. But we choose to sow and put a lot of energy in it. Afterwards we are always proud of the result.
About wine
Brings me back to the other projects, except for matrimony, that we started and keep on learning about. Like with our natural wine, every year a new challenge. This year we learnt from last year that birds love grapes too. Therefore this year we placed several scarecrows in our vineyard. And with success: less grapes got eaten and we harvested grapes for roughly 200 liters of our excellent red wine (to become after 1 year of storage).
With the making we had a bit of miscommunication with our Spanish friends and when they came, a group of 8 people, we were already done with picking the grapes and making wine out of it. Next year we will definitely wait until after the siesta and then start.
Antonio, winemaker for 40 years, told us that he couldn’t even make one bottle of wine from his own vineyard. Too few grapes. So, in the end we are lucky. We are brainstorming about what could have happened, because the soil is good. In the meantime we heard a lot of people in this area again having a bad harvest. Lack of rain, more birds eating the grapes and also mildew were among the big reasons.
It is not meant to compare love relationships with the making of wine, but certain elements are in common. Thinking about how everything is going, how things can be made better, improve your skills, alter the factors that are of a bad influence and many more.
Take your challenges, make yourself happier by changing your attitude, perspective or views. Or the combination of them. Humans are capable of thinking and being creative, don’t forget that. We are natural intelligence, with beating hearts, compassion, passion and feelings.
