We have always been interested in food and especially in food that is so called pure and not processed. Most food nowadays is even highly processed with all kinds of unhealthy additives. Funny, or I need to say a horrible fact is that few people know about the health risks they take by swallowing this inferior ‘food’. Since you probably know by now Alberto and I really want to live in a healthy way, for both mind and body. Our mind is at ease on the Spanish finca we live and where we grow vegetables and fruit in a natural way. Absolutely no chemicals are used, sorry Bayer Monsanto, you can keep your poisoning shit.
But we are not able to grow all the food we like to eat, so next to visiting local markets we now and then have also to buy groceries at supermarkets. There you really need to make an effort to buy good food. I don’t need reading glasses, Alberto does, so I do this shopping. Every item I get from the shelves is quickly but thoroughly inspected for the ingredients. Our yogurt is natural, not with processing and cutting in the fat amount. Producers do anything to save costs in the products, it is called value engineering and good ingredients are replaced for cheaper inferior ones. It is food out of laboratories, terrible. Nowadays you can even order cultured meat. Malicious cells are used to have your food grown. It is not science fiction, but unfortunately real in this world. Not in my stomach please!
More and more cheap soy oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil are used in alimentaries. And all types of flavoring, people get even addicted to it. It is all about money and more money. You simply need to consume their bad food so they can fill their pockets with money. And what to think about adding sugar and other unnecessary stuff to for example a chorizo sausage. It is criminal, knowing that when taking all these bad and unnecessary ingredients on a daily basis in a lot of the alimentary you eat, you can provoke all the illnesses we face nowadays. Like diabetes, dementia and cancer. The last century an enormous amount of new unhealthy products have entered the supermarkets and other stores. And yes … also the so called eco stores. And the number of people with ‘chronic’ diseases have increased enormously.
When the word ‘eco’, natural or healthy is on the package, most people simply believe the product is good. Please always look at the ingredients, short lists are a necessity. For example yogurt needs to be yogurt and meat needs to be meat. Don’t mess with food. Know that the A-ranked alimentaries are the worst, biggest part of the money you pay is put in marketing. They pay for eye level shelf position next to their huge budgets of marketing and promotion (for people who watch tell-a-vision) and you are psychologically seduced to buy it. Imagine me going completely on my knees to look at what is on the bottom of the shelf. Yes, I found a chorizo, containing just meat and salt! Nothing else. Happy to the max.
Because we want to eat honest and healthy food we keep on looking for new places that have this food. Our new pearl store is a Moroccan butcher in our neighborhood who has lamb meat and the best chicken ever. This chicken has a past of walking freely on the land and that can be tasted and seen. The texture and taste are phenomenal. The fat tastes pure and natural. Next to this butcher we visit the butcher El Blanquet in Altea who has its mantra that they grow meat, just that. And no interference of hormones and all that bad stuff. Their cows are almost nextdoors to our finca. People around us, the Spanish, don’t even understand why you should put strange stuff in your food. Comparing this meat to regular (supermarket) meat is a huge difference. Yes of course it is more expensive, but knowing that you are what you eat, it is definitely worth it.
Talking about your temple, your body, skin care is also a hot topic for us. We only use biological, non-GMO, cold pressed oils for our skin care. We use it in a pure form or use it to make our own creams. Same for dentifrice, deodorants, all the natural way. People and guests often ask me whether this takes a lot of time to think about how to live our life the way we want. We don’t consider it time consuming, it is also a kind of development and it is part of our life. Taking time to buy and grow alimentaries, preparing delicious and nutritious meals, and preparing skin care. And not to forget the animals take part in this process as well. There is still so much to come, so much to learn. We just have started, we have just begun!
